Lotto Megadraw: Lucky numbers to win $40 million on New Year's Eve

Ahead of the massive New Year’s Eve $40 million Megadraw, lottery officials have revealed the lucky numbers that may give you the best chance to kick off 2022 as a multi-millionaire.

With one-in-three Aussie adults expected to have a ticket in Lotto’s $40 million Megadraw draw 4221, The Lott Spokesperson Matt Hart said they are expecting to sell 2,000 tickets a minute on the day.

“Given the challenges of 2021, I’m sure many Aussies are keen for the chance to kickstart the New Year with a bang and will be eagerly awaiting the draw on Friday night,” said Mr Hart.

“You’d really have something to celebrate this New Year’s Eve with a division one prize in your pocket.”

‘Hot’ and ‘cold’ numbers revealed ahead of draw

While Lotto is a game of chance and every number has an equal chance of being drawn, The Lott revealed the ‘hot’ and ‘cold’ numbers from the past 35 years.

The most frequently drawn, or ‘hot’, numbers during this time were 1, 11, 8, 22 and 40.

Meanwhile, the least frequently drawn, or ‘cold’, numbers were 44, 14, 30, 27 and 17.

“Will Lotto’s ‘hot’ and ‘cold’ numbers live up to their reputation on New Year’s Eve? Only time will tell,” Mr Hart said.

How to increase your chances of winning

Whether players are making their entry with their lucky numbers, playing some of the 'hot' and 'cold' numbers, or simply letting the lottery terminal choose for them, the best way to win is to have an entry.

“Either way, if you have a ticket in your hand, you’re in with a chance,” said Mr Hart.

Lotto’s $40 million Megadraw will take place on Friday, December 31 at 8.30pm (AEDT).
