Man finds winning $1 million Lotto ticket while cleaning his house
While the idea of cleaning the house can be uninspiring at times, one man was rewarded for his efforts when he discovered a winning $1 million X Lotto ticket in a pile of clutter.
The overnight millionaire held one of two division one winning entries in the Monday and Wednesday X Lotto draw 4139, drawn Wednesday, December 15.
The winning man, from Blackwood in the foothills of Adelaide, joins a fellow division one winner from NSW who also took home a $1 million prize.
When speaking to lottery officials from The Lott on Monday, the man explained he discovered the winning ticket among a pile of old Lotto tickets when cleaning the house ahead of Christmas celebrations.
'Boy, am I glad I didn't throw that ticket out!'
“I thought I’d already checked them, so I was going to throw them out, but then I decided I’d check them again, just to be safe,” explained the winner.
“Boy, am I glad I didn’t throw that ticket out! It was the last ticket I checked,” he said.
It took some convincing, but after checking the ticket several times the winning news finally sank in.
“My wife was out grocery shopping, so I called her straight away with the news. She lost the plot! She was crying, cheering and screaming. It was awesome,” he explained.
To celebrate, the man took his wife out to a fancy dinner, where the couple enjoyed some tomahawk steaks and drinks.

However, when asked how he planned to spend his fortune, the SA man had more modest plans.
“We’ll pay off the mortgage and look after our kids,” he shared.
The couple also planned to invest their winnings and save for their future retirement.
“I can’t believe I’m ending the year as a millionaire.”
The winning entry was purchased at On The Run in Glandore.
The winning numbers in Monday & Wednesday X Lotto draw 4139 were 42, 11, 34, 10, 5 and 33, while the supplementary numbers were 18 and 32.
In December alone, there have been four division one wins in South Australia, who have collectively won more than $13.21 million.
