Woman shocked awake by $1 million Lotto win: 'Are you sure?'

A Victorian couple revealed they will embrace the “beach bum life” after discovering they won last night’s $1 million Lotto.

The couple, who hail from Horsham in regional Victoria, held one of two division one winning entries in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 4111 on Wednesday, September 8.

Speaking with an official from The Lott this morning, the excited duo were still reeling from the million-dollar news.

“We’re so doubtful! This kind of thing doesn’t happen to people like us. Are you sure?” asked the woman, as she struggled to come to terms with her newfound millionaire status.

“This morning, I got out of bed and checked my ticket straight away. I was half asleep, so I couldn’t see the screen properly, but then I noticed all six numbers were lit up,” she added.

The winning pair said they’d decided to start work a little later to let the life-changing news sink in.

“This is unbelievable. It’s life-changing for us,” the winners gushed.

When asked how they planned to spend their windfall, the lucky couple said they planned to retire and move to the seaside.

“We are both going to retire from work. We’ve been dreaming about this moment,” the winning man added.

“Then we are going to move and buy a place right on the beach. We want to be beach bums! We’ve already been house shopping online this morning and have picked out a few we’d like to look at,” said the overjoyed woman.

“We’ve won at the best time because this means we can really enjoy life and have a fantastic retirement.”

The winning numbers in the Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 4111 were 6, 26, 38, 5, 40 and 23, while the supplementary numbers were 13 and 16.

Canberra couple in lockdown take home $20m Powerball jackpot

It’s not been easy for many residents of Canberra, who’ve been in an extended lockdown since August.

However, a young couple recently found a reason to celebrate when they took out the entire $20 million jackpot.

The lucky Belconnen couple, who are in their 30s, held the only division one winning entry in Powerball draw 1320 drawn on Thursday, September 2.

“We were literally still working when you called," the winning man told The Lott over the phone.

“I don’t buy lottery tickets that often, but lately we’ve been like, ‘Let’s just do it. Who knows?’"

While the mind-blowing news is still sinking in, the couple confessed they planned to use their huge winnings to help their family buy a house.

"This is just going to mean a lot for the whole family,” the ecstatic man said.

“I want to help my parents and siblings. I want to buy a house for our young family. It’s going to make a world of difference.”

The winning numbers in Powerball draw 1320 were 17, 25, 12, 5, 4, 28 and 14, while the all-important Powerball number was 10.
