Man wins $1m on first lotto ticket purchased: 'Never before'

A Newtown man who last night dreamed of his favourite car, discovered his dreams might be a reality when woke to news of his $1 million Lotto win.

The Sydney man became an overnight millionaire after holding two division entries in the Monday and Wednesday Lotto draw 4107, which was drawn on Wednesday 25 August 2021.

“It’s the weirdest thing. Last night I was looking at Land Rover Defenders – they’re my favourite car. I never do that. And now this!” the lucky winner told officials from The Lott this morning.

The man, in his 40s, burst out laughing upon hearing the life-changing news and told lottery officials it was the first time he’d bought a Monday & Wednesday Lotto ticket.

“This ticket was pretty much a one-off. I’ve never really played Monday & Wednesday Lotto before!” the NSW man said.

Despite having his eye on his dream car, the ecstatic winner said that he would first use his windfall to pay off his mortgage.

“I think I’ll pay off the mortgage first, but after that… who knows?” he said.

He went on to say: “This has come at such a good time as I’ve been worried about my job lately.”

Across Australia, there were two division one winning entries in the Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw – both from New South Wales.

The retired NSW couple discovered they held one of two division one winning entries in the Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 4107, drawn Wednesday 25 August 2021.

“We’re just having breakfast!” the excited woman screamed.

The NSW duo told lottery officials that they had played a special set of numbers they had been using for decades, including family birthdays and anniversaries.

“We might even get married again! We have thought about renewing our vows! I don’t know if I can remember the first ones, so we could make new ones.”
