‘You’re joking?’: Mum stunned by $11 million Oz Lotto win
A Rosebery mum has received the “perfect distraction” from Sydney’s tough lockdown after discovering her $11 million Oz Lotto win.
The Sydney woman, who held the only division one winning entry in Tuesday’s Oz Lotto draw 1435, struggled to get her head around winning the entire $11,002,697.57 jackpot.
It took some convincing on the part of The Lott officials for the life-changing news to finally sink in for the lucky woman.
“Oh, you’re joking? You’re having me on?” questioned the Rosebery woman.
“I’ve won $11 million? That is crazy,” she continued. “Oh my god. This can’t be real!”
After some back and forth, the Sydney mum realised that the news of her good fortune was true and started to contemplate how she would spend her windfall.
“I’ve always wanted my own home and to be able to provide for my family. I will certainly be able to do that now,” she explained to The Lott officials.
“A house is definitely at the very top of the wish list.”
Winning news ‘perfect distraction’ during lockdown
The woman explained that the Sydney lockdown had been really tough on her, so dreaming of how she would spend her winnings was the “perfect distraction” during this trying time.
The Sydney mum found herself contemplating an early retirement upon learning of her newfound “financial freedom.”
“I do like my job. Maybe I will keep working, maybe I won’t. I don’t know!” she laughed.
“I’m probably going to resign very soon!” added the woman,
The winning numbers in the Oz Lotto draw 1435 were 35, 15, 44, 5, 18, 32 and 38, while the supplementary numbers were 42 and 16.

The winning entry was purchased at Rosebery North Newsagency, where the Manager Min said he was “thrilled” to hear he had sold the winning ticket.
“It’s incredible to see one of our customers walk away with such a massive prize,” said Min.
“It’s so exciting for us and our community during a really tough and uncertain time.”
The division one win brings The Lott’s tally to 289 so far this calendar year, which includes 84 won by NSW customers.
The biggest Oz Lotto jackpot during this time has been $50 million, which was won by a North Sydney woman in July 2020.
