Australia's Lotto hotspot produces another winner

A Lotto-winning streak is sweeping across one lucky Australian city.

Confirming its reputation as a lottery hotspot, the Gold Coast has achieved another Lotto division one win– its fifth in five weeks.

The latest winning ticket in the region won $671,513.12 in the division one Saturday Lotto draw but the winner doesn’t know it yet.

The ticket was purchased at Golden Lucky News, in Helensvale on the Gold Coast. Store owner Lin Zhou was thrilled to sell her first division one winning entry.

“We’ve been here about 20 months so it’s great to see a big win,” she said.

“How exciting! But the winner may not know it yet.

“We’ve been letting all the people know we’ve had a win and to check their tickets.”

Lottery officials are urging people to check their tickets to see if they are the winners, as the winning entry was unregistered.

Since July, the Gold Coast has produced five winning entries worth “more than $3.29 million” in total, according to The Lott spokesperson Matt Hart.

“The run began in July with a win from Mermaid Waters, and has been quickly followed by winning entries from Burleigh Waters, Elanora, Nerang, and now Helensvale,” he said.

“Four of these wins have been from Saturday Gold Lotto, while the other was a Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto prize.”

The lucky streak could continue this week, as Thursday’s Powerball jackpots to a record-breaking $100 million.

The six winning numbers in the Saturday Gold Lotto draw were 1, 23, 8, 15, 44, and 20. The supplementary numbers were 11 and 18.
