Woolworths responds after woman's yard 'wrecked' by delivery truck

A furious homeowner who claimed that a Woolworths driver had destroyed her front yard while making a delivery to a nearby house has sparked a debate over the incident.

The woman shared several photos showing deep tyre track marks on her front lawn and wants the supermarket giant to take responsibility for fixing it.

"My yard is still wrecked by your delivery truck and its YOUR responsibility to fix it. YOU KNOW IT IS," the woman posted on Facebook, claiming that when she reached out to Woolworths about the issue the week before, she was told someone would be in touch within 48 hours.

"Well? Where the bloody hell are you?"

Mixed reactions from Woolworths customers

While some Woolies customers were sympathetic to the woman's plight, others had different opinions on the matter.

"Everyone's lawn has marks like that from the mailman, especially after the rain," one woman remarked, adding that as the damage is on grass, it could be pressed down with a spade. "It will grow back."

Another customer leapt to the woman's defence. "Why should she? The Woolworths driver did the damage. Too many people are not held accountable for the wrong things they do these days."

"Looks fine to me," one person wrote.

"First world problems," another commented.

Woolworths responds to complaint

The homeowner commented that Woolworths representatives had privately messaged her twice, promising someone would contact her soon about the damaged yard, but says she never heard from them again.

"We had to fix the yard ourselves because if left any longer the ground would go hard and we would have had a dreadful time levelling it out by ourselves then," the woman told Yahoo News Australia.

Woolworths, which had reached out to the woman on via the comments section of her Facebook post, has pledged to look into the matter.

"We're disappointed for our customer who has obviously put a lot of care and pride into her garden. We'll be following up with our delivery partner and making sure our team resolve this to the customer's satisfaction," a Woolworths spokesperson told Yahoo News Australia.
