Woman hunts and kills husky thinking it was a baby wolf

WARNING — GRAPHIC CONTENT: A woman has sparked fury online after sharing pictures of her most recent kill on a hunting trip, where she posed with what she thought was a baby wolf.

A woman by the name of Amber claimed she had killed her first ever wolf while out hunting, however, the "wolf" she shared pictures of on social media was actually a husky.

The post has since been taken down, however screenshots of it are going viral online.

"So this morning I set out for a solo predator hunt for a fall black bear however I got the opportunity to take another predator," she wrote, adding it was "great" being able to message her partner and tell him about killing her first wolf pup.

In the pictures, that were taken in the US state of Montana, she held up the dead husky's head and had it laid out on the truck's bed after skinning it.

She smiled in the photos, proudly holding her gun.

People were reportedly quick to point out that she hadn't killed a wolf as she thought.

The local Sheriff's Office told TMZ they were aware of the incident and the investigation into the matter is ongoing.

However, furious people online have taken it upon themselves to demand justice.

Circulating the screenshot of the initial post, people were encouraged to reach out to the Columbia Falls Chamber-Commerce.

"This individual deserves to be held accountable for her actions," one person said, providing a template for people to copy and paste into an email.

Hunter hits back at social media backlash

Amber has hit back at people circulating the pictures of her holding up the skinned dog and claimed the information being shared about her was "not true whatsoever".

She said she had a licence to kill wolves, which she had purchased before she went out hunting bears.

On the bear hunt, Amber came across the husky that she thought was a "hybrid wolf pup".

"During this time my safety was [my] top priority this animal was growling howling and coming at me like it was going to eat me," she wrote on a Facebook post that was shared by TMZ.

She acknowledged she had made a mistake, but insisted she thought it was a wolf pup, adding she was unaware several dogs had recently been abandoned in the wilderness.

There have been claims on social media that a group of starved, abandoned huskies were left in the woods.

"Either way, yes I would still have shot it because it was aggressive and coming directly for me," she continued.

"So please remove all your post thinking I just shot and killed someone's pet! I am human did I make a mistake thinking it was a hybrid wolf pup however there are no charges against me as I did NOT break any laws!!!

"I'm not a cruel individual just put killing people's pets!"
