The clever shopper, TikTok user @investwithqueenie, revealed how people can get half-price groceries using a free, aptly named app called Half Price.

In the TikTok video, captioned “half price groceries at Woolworths and Coles in Australia”, the woman demonstrates how to use the simple money-saving app on her phone.

“It shows you all the things that are half price at Coles and Woolworths and you can save the items you want to purchase to a list,” she tells users in the video.

However, the TikToker warns shoppers not to be tempted by the sale prices and only purchase what is on their usual grocery list.

“Just remember that you’re only saving if you’re buying items that you normally would buy anyway,” she says.

“And you’re not saving if [you’re] just buying something because it’s on sale.”

The Half Price app enables shoppers to see the latest half-price specials from Coles and Woolies at a glance, with all data updated every Wednesday morning.

Shoppers share their favourite apps for unlocking discounts

The 20-second video had already gained 10,600 views and more than 600 likes from commentators claiming the money-saving hack was “amazing”.

While other customers took to the comments to share their own favourite apps for unlocking massive discounts on groceries.

“You can use Shping too, [it] scans barcodes in stores and [it] tells you what store has the cheapest price. Plus you get points for scanning the item,” wrote one shopper.

According to the ShopFully website, the app is a “mobile-first marketplace helping more than 50 million people to find the best deals from the nearby stores and all the information they need for a frictionless shopping experience.”

The Half Price, Shping and ShopFully apps are all available for free download from the App Store and Google Play store.
