Woolworths shoppers delighted by kindness of staff: 'Made my day'

A pleased Woolworths shopper has reached out to the retail giant online, publicly thanking them after a kind gesture from their local store.

The customer, located in New South Wales, posted their thanks on Woolworths’s public Facebook page.

“Thank you so much to the team at Woolworths Wentworthville for a surprise in the shopping bags,” they wrote.

Accompanying the post is a photograph of a pack of Cadbury Milk Tray chocolates, valued at $10, which the customer received in their shopping.

On top of the chocolate box was a handwritten note.

“Thanks for shopping with us - Woolies Wentworthville,” the note read.

“[We see] that you’ve received a gift from our Wentworthville store.”

“We’re glad to see that it made your day and came as a surprise,” they said.

“We hope your next shop will be a positive one.”

Woolworths’s Bendigo team has also previously been commended for gifting a box of Favourites with a sweet note in a customer’s online order.

“Just a little something to get you through these challenging times,” the note said.

Woolworths team double down on acts of kindness

It's not the only time Woolworths has brought a smile to a customer's face.

A NSW customer has revealed how she and the staff at her local Woolworths store surprised each other with random acts of kindness.

“Thought I'd try to put a smile on someone's face in these hard times and left a little note on my click and collect,” the happy customer wrote on the supermarket's Facebook page.

But when the woman’s gesture was reciprocated by the store, she was in awe.

“Was not expecting a single thing in return,” she said.

The customer shared photograph of the bunch of flowers and handwritten note that she had received from the team with her click and collect order.

“Now both the Corowa NSW online team and I have had our days made," she said.

The heartwarming note read: “Thank you for your note - you’re the reason we love our job”.

Woolworths’s Good Acts program

A Woolworths spokesperson told Yahoo News Australia about their Good Acts program, whereby Woolworths team members are encouraged to brighten customers’ days.

“We try to bring a little good to our customers every day through our Good Acts program,” the spokesperson said.

“From handwritten notes to a box of chocolates, our team like to go above and beyond for our customers to make their shopping experience extra special.”

Yahoo News understands that gifts offered to customers are at the discretion of the Woolworths store teams, provided free of charge by the store.

Previous Good Acts by Woolworths staffers have included boxes and blocks of chocolates, bouquets of flowers, and cakes.

Woolworths has also recently been commended for environmental innovation and customers have taken to social media to express their excitement over the supermarket giant's new Woolworths Bricks collectables.
