Woolworths customer finds strange 'metal object' in snack packet

A Woolworths customer has discovered something a "tad bit more crunchy than expected" when he dug into a packet of Curly's oven roasted pork crackle to find a strange metal object.

"Found a metal object in my Curly's pork crackle packet tonight right down the bottom.

"It looks like some type of metal clip used to hold a rod in place, but be able to be removed when required," the customer wrote on Facebook along with a photo of the object and the packet of crackle he said he found it in.

"That'll test your teeth bro," a friend joked.

"Bit of tabasco and it’ll be fine mate," another person commented.

The savoury treat still appeared to be in date with a best before date of February 26, 2022, but the customer did not mention which Woolworths location he had purchased the product from.

A Woolworths spokesperson told Yahoo News they were aware of the customer’s report and have contacted the supplier for immediate attention.

"We encourage the customer to return the product back to their local store for a full refund," they said.

Meanwhile a spokesperson for New World Foods, the manufacturer of the product, told Yahoo News Australia they were aware of the complaint and an initial investigation is underway by the quality control team.
