Condition of teen cyclist in hit-run improves from critical to serious

The 13-year-old girl involved in a hit-run crash in Melbourne last week appears to be winning her fight for life.

Alice Lewis's condition has improved from critical to serious as she recovers at The Royal Children's Hospital.

She was struck while riding her bicycle with friends in Coburg last Sunday.

Sunshine North woman Thi Nguyen, 41, fronted court on Monday morning.

She handed herself in to police four days after the collision.

She has been charged with dangerous driving, and failing to stop and render assistance.
