'Sad reality': BMW driver savaged over parking mistake

A BMW driver seemed to make an odd parking choice at a Melbourne shopping centre.

A BMW driver has been roasted for where they apparently chose to park their car, despite several spots being available to them.

A Melbourne local who drove to the car park at HomeCo Hawthorn East shopping centre found the mishap quite amusing, deciding to snap a photo of the odd parking choice.

"So went down to local shops and saw this car parked in the middle of road way in a car park (as you can see there's heaps of empty car parks too)," she said in the Melbourne Crap Drivers and Parkers Facebook group.

"Plenty of room to drive around it so it didn't affect me but I couldn't help giggle to myself and think 'just when I think I've seen some of the worst driving/parking I come across this'."

The fact that the BMW was parked right in front of a pedestrian crossing would've also given drivers wanting to pass through the wrong idea.

"As I came up behind the car I sat there for like a minute wondering 'who are they waiting for to cross?' Until I realised the car was actually empty,” the woman said in the comments.

Locals take aim at Melbourne BMW driver

The post garnered several comments, with locals trying to deliberate what on earth went wrong here.

"The sad reality is this person probably actually thinks it's a car park," one person said.

"Looks like they misinterpreted the marking, thinking it was a parking slot, not a give way line," another suggested.

"On the wrong side of the road too...," a third person said.

Though whatever the reason may be, people wondered why the driver has a licence if they can't recognise a basic road rule.

"Should have went to Spec Savers," one person joked.

"Makes you wonder how they passed their driving test. Or even if they have one," another said.

Others also thought the mistake was specific to drivers of a BMW, with little explanation about why.

"Standard practice for this German brand owner...Just like blinkers use," one person said.
