Park visitors keep their distance as huge Roos punch on

Two kangaroos have flexed their muscles and put on quite the show, taking on one another at a Queensland park over the weekend.

The pair’s scuffle startled onlookers on North Stradbroke Island and was caught on camera by Angela Russell – who shared the bout on Facebook.

Ms Russell, who owns and operates a guesthouse on the island, told Yahoo7 News that she and her husband and been on their way to take their dogs for a walk at Point Lookout on the island about 7am on Sunday when they spotted the tussle.

“We saw the two kangaroos going for it,” she recalled.

“It was quite full on. They were very large and very muscly.”

Her husband had pulled the car over so they could get a better look at the marsupials’ row.

“I sort of hung my head out the window and started filming,” she said.

“He was pretty excited as well.”

A number of other people had stopped to watch the spectacle – but like Ms Russell and her husband who watched from the safety of their car – most kept their distance.

“Nobody was getting too close,” she said.

Ms Russell said there had been about a dozen kangaroos in the park at the time.

She explained they always see the animals around the place, but it’s not often they are spotted fighting.

“It was lovely seeing nature at its best.

“I don’t think a lot of people realise how much you see the wildlife over there,” she said.

While Ms Russell said she was lucky to see the scuffle, she is not sure which marsupial came out on top this time.

“They stood up again after that and they were staring at each other so i’m not exactly sure who won out of that,” she said.
