Heart-stopping moment train narrowly misses 4WD stuck on tracks

A driver narrowly missed being hit by a train after stopping on railway tracks in Melbourne.

Video filmed by Werribee resident Bruno shows the the car stopping on the crossing at Cherry Street, Werribee on Monday morning.

The boom gates come down, trapping the car before a train passes in front of it.

Bruno said he couldn’t understand why the driver just stopped on the tracks.

“We were thinking, ‘Uh oh, they are just going to get clobbered’,” he told Yahoo7.

“What are they doing sitting there?”

He added while he wasn’t sure how close the train travelled to the car, due to the view he had, “it couldn’t have been that far”.

“Someone died in the same situation on those tracks a few years ago,” Bruno said.

Victoria Police were not aware of the incident when asked by Yahoo7.
