One dead after plane crashes into Melbourne street and catches on fire
A person has died following a light plane crash in a Melbourne street.
The plane caught fire and crashed on Scarlet Street, Mordialloc on Friday about 5pm, according to police.
It also took out powerlines.
The man on board, the only one inside the plane, has died. Police are yet to formally identify him.

“There are no reports of any other injuries at this stage,” a police spokeswoman said.
“The incident is currently ongoing.”
Victoria Police will now prepare a report for the coroner and the exact cause of the crash will be investigated by Australian Transport Safety Bureau.
