Boy playing with inflatable alligator doesn't realise he's metres away from real danger

A terrifying video shows the danger just metres away from an unsuspecting boy playing in his backyard.

Six-year-old Timmy was cooling himself down on a slip and slide with an inflatable alligator, not realising an actual alligator was sitting and watching.

Nicole Mojica filmed the video of her son in Florida and posted it on Facebook to warn others.

“Can you spot the real gator? He sees us for sure! Look closely,” she said.

“It ran down my slip and slide.”

Ms Mojica said the alligators were everywhere and it had been watching the boy the whole time.

The mother told WFTV she performed “gator checks” in her backyard every day and did not realise the alligator was near them at first.

“I saw the brown chair move. Oh my God,” she said.

Alligator expert at Gatorland Donny Aldarelli said people needed to be aware of alligators at this time of year.

“They start roaming around, you find them in swimming pools, underneath your car – it’s the time they are on the move a lot,” he told WFTV.

June marks the end of the mating season in Florida and the start of nesting season, which can be just as dangerous.

“Never would I expect one so close to us. They say they are afraid. Well, he wasn’t,” Ms Mojica said.

“And he went down the slip and slide and into the pond.”
