Coles shoppers evacuated after shopping centre floor caves in
Shoppers were evacuated from a Coles store in Brisbane’s West End after the floor began to lift and tiles buckled.
Police were called to the The Markets Shopping Centre on the corner of Mollison Street and Boundary Road about 1pm on Friday.
Shoppers were ordered out while store managers tried to work out what caused the problem.
A spokesperson for Queensland Fire and Emergency Services told Yahoo7 News the collapse was initially reported as an explosion.
“We arrived and found a partial collapse of flooring, the area was thoroughly checked for any electrical issues or gas leaks,” she said.
