$4.8m Lotto win turns couple's bad luck around: 'This is everything’
A Bayview couple’s bad luck has turned around after discovering they were the winners of Friday night’s $4.8 million Set for Life draw.
The lucky winners, who hail from Bayview in Darwin, held the only division one winning entry in Set for Life draw 2269, drawn on Friday, October 22.
The winning couple take home the division one jackpot of $4.8 million, paid in instalments of $20,000 a month for 20 years, meaning they’re truly set for life.
This morning, the Darwin couple were going about their day oblivious of their newfound wealth, when an official from The Lott broke the life-changing news.
“No! You’re telling me we’ve won Set for Life?!” the winning woman cried over the phone.
“Are you kidding me? No! Are you serious? No, come on! This has to be a joke!” she said.
Once the woman realised that lottery officials were telling the truth and let the news sink in, she said that the win was exactly what the family needed after a tough year.
Lottery win 'will change our whole world'
“You don’t know what this means to us. This is everything. This will change our whole world,” said the thankful woman.
“We’ve had such a tough year, and things have not been easy. So many bad things have happened,” she said.
The woman explained that the family has their own business and things have been really tough, so the news meant the couple could take some time off from work.
“We will definitely look at working less. Maybe we will go part-time, maybe we won’t work at all,” the woman said.
“We just want to take it easy and relax. That’s what this means for us. We have worked so hard for years and years, and now we don’t have to anymore.”
She also said that the celebrations would start early, with much-needed time off for the rest of the day.
“We can help our family too, which is just amazing. And we can help set our kids up for the future.”
The winning numbers in Set for Life draw 2269 were 15, 10, 31, 26, 33, 25, and 14, while the supplementary numbers were 16 and 22.

Win marks 86th Set for Life division one winner
The win marks the 86th Set for Life division one winner nationally since the game began and the 16th Set for Life division one winner so far this calendar year.
So far in 2021, there have been six division one wins in the Northern Territory collectively worth more than $46.03 million.
Meanwhile, there are more chances to take home the jackpot with Tuesday’s Oz Lotto offering $30 million, while Thursday’s Powerball has $3 million up for grabs.
Tonight’s Set for Life draw offers players the chance to win a division one prize of $20,000 a month for 20 years.
The Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot prize is now $4.12 million for draw 1548, while the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot prize is now $3.62 million for draw 10499.
