Horrific scenes as snake holds kookaburra in death grip with its tail

It was just last month footage of a python dangling from a home’s antenna with a large bird in its mouth went viral.

And now in almost identical scenes, remarkable video from Queensland on Monday is sure to spark a similar response.

The astonishing footage shows a snake hanging from a tree with what appears to be a kookaburra trapped by the snake’s coiled tail.

The clip, which was filmed by shocked onlooker Andi Kelly, shows the snake at the top of the tree in rural Kingaroy, 160km west of the Sunshine Coast.

Several squawking birds surround the snake as it begins to loosen its grip on its catch before dropping the bird to the ground.

Ms Kelly told Yahoo7 News the kookaburra “unfortunately” died following its ordeal.

“I was really shocked because I’d never seen anything like it in real life,” she said.

The tables were turned in a similar encounter in north Queensland last week when a US woman filmed a kookaburra thrashing a python to death.
