Lotto: Bizarre coincidence behind Melbourne couple's $1m win
A Melbourne couple enjoying their wedding anniversary over the weekend have been given one million other reasons to celebrate after scooping a huge win on the lottery.
The parents from Clayton in the city's southeast were one of six Division One winners in Saturday's TattsLotto draw taking home a cool $1,015,392.69.
Adding to the coincidence, the pair picked their winning numbers on their wedding day and have been playing with them ever since.
“We picked these numbers about a decade ago when we got married, and last week we also celebrated our anniversary, so it feels like it was meant to be," the wife said.
She revealed how she and her husband initially thought it was "some kind of prank" after they realised their numbers had come in.
“I am still in shock now. I can’t believe it. This is just incredible," she said.
In a selfless act, the mum revealed they plan to give some of their winnings to their parents and their siblings.

"We will be able to help our families too, which is just the greatest thing. They’ve all supported us so much over the years, so we can’t wait to spoil them a little," she said.
In typical lottery-winning fashion, the couple also plan on paying off their mortgage, buying a car and going on a big family holiday.
Saturday's winning numbers were 33, 28, 15, 30, 11 and 39, while the supplementary numbers were 35 and 19.
The couple's win is a similar tale to that of a Sydney man who scooped $1million on the Monday and Wednesday Lotto last week.
He too had been playing with the same numbers for 10 years.
