When was going through the photos later in the day, a friend was quick to point out he had captured much more than he had bargained for.

In the foreground of several of his shots of the famous beach, a man is seen dropping to one and proposing to his girlfriend.

One shot even captures the woman appearing to accept his offer.

In a bid to locate the newly engaged pair, Mr Cervantes took to Facebook to share the photos in the hope that the online community could help.

"Take a look at the photos... it seems that, by coincidence I snapped three photos in the precise moment this guy was proposing!" he wrote.

"It would be fun if I can find this couple so I can share this photos with them. Not sure if they are Aussies or just tourist but hey... we can give it a try."

And the power of the internet once again paid dividends.

Less than a day after the post went up the happy couple were identified.

Lyall Bezett, from New Zealand, was the romantic who knelt down before his now fiancée, Amelia Wright, according to several of their friends online.

Mr Bezett told Yahoo7 that he and his partner were delighted someone had managed to capture their special moment.

"We are so thankful someone captured the most memorable day of our lives and to be able to share these with our family and friends is just so special," he said.

"It was like reliving the the moment all over again seeing the photos and bought up so much emotions again."
