Woolworths shopper stunned by bizarre microwave lasagne find: 'Like soup'

A Woolworths customer was stunned by the bizarre discovery she made after opening a microwave beef lasagne from her local store on Tuesday.

The shocked shopper posted a video of the 260g On the Menu Beef Lasagne she purchased from Woolworths Rosebud West in Capel Sound on Sunday.

In the video, you can see the Woolies customer opening the ready-made lasagne meal and stirring it with a fork after heating it in the microwave.

However, what the shopper did not expect to find was that the beef lasagne consisted only of soft cheese and had the consistency of soup.

The confused shopper found that the lasagne was missing key ingredients: beef mince and lasagne sheets.

'It was like soup and it tasted horrible' says Woolworths shopper

Speaking to Yahoo News Australia, the disappointed woman said: “It was like soup and it tasted horrible.”

She also spoke with Woolworths, who apologised and requested the batch number so they could resolve the issue with their supplier, Vesco Foods.

Yahoo News Australia also reached out to a spokesperson from Woolworths who confirmed they were aware of the customer's complaint about the On the Menu lasagne and had raised the issue with Vesco Foods.

Woolworths also offered the shopper a replacement from their Rosebud West store or a full refund on the unsatisfactory beef lasagne.

Vesco Foods take action to 'ensure errors are not repeated'

Vesco Foods is one of Australia’s largest producers of ready meals, with multiple factories across the country supplying brands such as On the Menu, Lean Cuisine, Super Nature, Jarraballi and more.

They also supply On the Menu and Lean Cuisine frozen meals to Woolies' supermarket competitor Coles.

A spokesperson for Vesco Foods told Yahoo News Australia that they are aware of the issue raised by the Woolworths shopper and have taken action to ensure it doesn’t happen again.

“Although we hold high quality accreditations for our factories and make every effort to make our products perfectly, rarely and on the odd occasion, inclusive of this one, there are times where there are errors made and despite our best efforts make it through our stringent checking process,” said the spokesperson.

“Vesco sincerely apologises for any inconvenience caused and we have taken action to ensure that the errors are not repeated,” the spokesperson added.
