Woman fell to her death while watching sunset on her birthday

A woman who was found dead at the bottom of cliffs in Brisbane’s suburb of Kangaroo Point had been celebrating her birthday before she died.

Emergency services tried to resuscitate her but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police do not believe there were any suspicious circumstances surrounding her death.

A Brazilian national from Rio de Janeiro, Ms Morella had been celebrating her birthday by watching the sunset at the cliffs when she fell, according to one of her friends.

On Facebook, people paid tribute to her, mostly written in Portuguese.

“I love you more than one day I could say. At the moment, you can only say that,” one woman wrote.

Another friend wrote Ms Morella, “will always be in our hearts”.

“We didn't talk much this week, but we always talk, every week we video called, yesterday was her birthday, she sent me one I love you,” another woman wrote.

The Kangaroo Point cliffs are a tourist hotspot in Brisbane with long pathways for cycling, parklands and a view of the Brisbane River and CBD.

Ms Morella’s death remains under investigation, though police believe it was likely a case of misadventure.
