Shocking moment BMW knocks down woman at crossing in hit-and-run

The hunt is on for a BMW driver who hit an elderly woman at a pedestrian crossing before allegedly driving off.

The hit-and-run driver was filmed at Birmingham, in England’s West Midlands, on April 10.

West Midlands Police released CCTV footage of the incident on Tuesday and claim a man was behind the wheel of the car at the time.

Video shows the woman, aged in her 80s, using the pedestrian crossing as the BMW turns the corner.

She’s not fully across the road as the BMW turns and knocks her over before driving off.

Woman hospitalised with head and foot injuries

Police shared the CCTV in the hope of finding the driver responsible.

“We have carried out enquiries around the vehicle, but the person who registered the car is believed to have given a false name and address, meaning we are unable to trace the real owner of the car,” police said.

“The woman remains in hospital with injuries to her foot and head.”

Constable Jordan Keen told The Daily Star the driver “showed no regard for the elderly woman he knocked down”.

"We are urging him to do the right thing, and hand himself in,” Constable Keen said.
