'I'm yours forever': Aussie remembers 'soul mate' who died after being stabbed in eye with pool cue

WARNING, DISTRESSING CONTENT: A man who has died after being stabbed in the eye with a pool cue while trying to break up an alleged bar brawl has been remembered by his girlfriend in a moving tribute online.

Melbourne woman Clare Boadle, 25, posted on Facebook that her "best friend and soul mate" Ludi Vink, 30, was "declared brain dead after being brutally attacked".

Mr Vink was out with his mum when he stepped in to break up an alleged bar brawl near Johannesburg, South Africa on Tuesday, according to reports.

The terrifying moments that followed, as men turned on him and attacked him with a pool cue, have been captured in sickening CCTV footage.

Two days later the South African man's life support was switched off in hospital.

"Today I say goodbye to the love of my life, best friend and soul mate," Ms Boadle wrote in a Facebook post on Thursday.

"I'm so glad I got to hold you and kiss you one last time.

"He was kept alive on life support so that he can donate all of his organs with the first being his heart going straight to a patient in Cape Town.

"I don't know I'll do this without you. I love you and I'm yours forever."

Mr Vink has been remembered as a talented artist with a passion for surfing.

His alleged attacker handed himself in to South African police on Friday, South African local newspaper the Alberton Record has reported.

The state did not oppose bail and he was released on a R5000 (A$505) bond, another local media outlet EWN reported.

She also posted that a memorial would be held for him on Tuesday in Johannesburg.

"Otherwise, please have a beer for Ludi on this day."

Mr Vink's mum Danlee Vink has also said goodbye to her son on Facebook, posting a touching a tribute.

"My heart is ripped out, my soul is in pain," Ms Vink wrote.

"My darling, beautiful, kind son.

"So pointlessly and savagely, ripped from me... Every part of me, is in pain."

Ms Boadle, who is originally from Perth, also shared a link to a Go Fund Me page set up to help Mr Vink's family, saying: "please help his mother and father while they deal with their loss".

"These funds will assist the family with funeral costs and cover expenses while they stop work to grieve the loss of Ludi."

Local media has reported that the two were out for a drink at the Mitzy's biker club at Randhart, near Alberton, where Mr Vink was from, when the alleged fight broke out.

In the shocking CCTV footage a man is seen picking up a cue from the pool table and walking towards Mr Vink.

The man can then be seen holding the cue tip first and lunging towards Mr Vink, who can be seen backing away from him.

Mr Vink then crumbles to the ground and is seen lying flat on the floor of the bar.

A second man walks up to the motionless Mr Vink and removes the implement from his face.
