Girl, 10, upset over Saturday Night Live disabled chicken joke
A 10-year-old girl has lashed out at popular comedy TV show Saturday Night Live after a co-host mocked her disabled pet chicken.
The bird named Granite Heart was born with a deformed foot and is now learning to walk with a custom wheelchair.
On a recent SNL episode, the US comedy sketch show’s Weekend Update co-host said the little girl should “just eat the chicken”.
Alora Wood, from the US town of Underhill in Vermont, told NECN-TV she knew the segment was meant to be a joke, but failed to see the funny side.
“What if it was a dog?” she asked.
“Any creature, no matter how big, no matter how small, they deserve to have a perfect life.”
The custom wheelchair came from a company in Amherst, New Hampshire, that makes pet wheelchairs.
