Harvey finals attract fans

Girls Division 1 premiers Katz with coach Richard Wood.

A big crowd enjoyed all the action of the Harvey Basketball Association finals on Saturday.

Both the senior and junior finals were played out at the Harvey Recreation and Cultural Centre.

The men’s final between the strong and experienced Bulls team and young guns Thunder was fast-paced and action-packed.

The Bulls’ Brett Lofthouse was a strong force throughout and Kayden Towns hit some good shots in the second half when it counted most.

Thunder’s Lockie Hernaman made some great drives to the basket and Mitchell Thompson sunk a number of threes.

The Bulls were too strong in the end, pulling away to a 10-point lead with the final score 48-38.

The Bulls’ Kayden Towns was picked grand final MVP and young gun Anthony Zappia was season MVP with runner-up Brayden Hill.

In the women’s final the Katz and Cruisers fought it out in a close battle with Katz coming out on top 45-35 at the final buzzer.

Katz’ Ninnette Comito was a strong force throughout the game and was named grand final MVP.

Season MVP went to Donnelle Wallam and Ninnette Comito was runner-up.

The junior teams were equally exciting and players enjoyed fighting it out in front of the big crowd.

Girls Division 2: Suns d Storm 10-7, grand final MVP and season MVP Lara Rognetta, runner up Jessica Gervasi;
Boys Division 1: Celtics d Spurs 50-33, grand final MVP Lockie Hernaman, season MVP Zach Willmott and Jaspher Padua, runner-up Lucas McCaul;
Boys Division 2: 76ers d Pistons 22-14, grand final MVP Brady Hough, season MVP Dylan Chatley, runner-up Jonathon Ietto and Brady Hough.
