Teen's dangerous 'bus surfing' stunt caught on dash cam

A terrifying video of a teenager hitching a ride on top of a bus driving down a street in southwest Sydney has been shared to social media.

The video was taken on Tuesday morning by a member of the community and then shared to the Cabramatta community Facebook page.

“A teenager was caught on camera this morning, trying to dangerously 'bus surf' the 817 bus, as it pulled into Canley Vale station,” the accompanying post said.

“It's unclear how long he was up there for or how he escaped the eye of the driver as he climbed up on top, but he can be seen half standing on the bus roof as it pulls into the station.”

In the video shared to Facebook, which goes for over one minute, the teenager is seen on the roof of the bus right before it pulls to a stop.

As the bus takes off again and turns the corner, the teenager then begins to try and stand up on the roof.

When the bus comes to another stop after turning the corner outside the station, the teen is seen shutting the roof hatch on the bus before jumping off the bus and walking away.

Facebook viewers blasted the boy’s behaviour, with one labelling him an “absolute idiot”, while another said his actions were “Darwinism at work”.

The post explains the member from the community who took the video did pass on a copy to the police and that police were able to identify the teenager and intended to speak with him.

According to Nine News, police are not investigating the incident.
