Two families devastated after six people killed in horrific crash

Two families have been shattered after six people were killed in a horrific head-on car crash.

Three members from each the Jaramillo and Gouni families were killed instantly when their vehicles collided on November 27 in Snyder, in the US state of Texas, about 10pm (local time).

Alex Jaramillo, 27, wife Crystal Flores, 25, and two-year-old son Lucas were travelling home after visiting with Crystal’s family for the Thanksgiving holiday.

The Jaramillos were in their Taurus when a Nissan SUV carrying the Gouni family crossed into the opposite lane, local publications reported.

Alex, Crystal and Lucas died at the scene. The couple have left behind two daughters, nine-year-old Alani and four-year-old Mila.

Three people in the Nissan headed for New Mexico – Narayana Reddy, 56, his 49-year-old wife, Lakshmi alias Venamma, and their 27-year-old son, Bharat Reddy – also died instantly.

Three others in their car, including Narayana and Lakshmi’s 29-year-old daughter, were rushed to hospital where they all remain in a critical condition.

Mounika has multiple fractures, broken ribs on both sides and is paralysed.

She remains in the ICU where she is being constantly monitored.

The devastated friends and loved ones of the Jaramillo and Gouni families have rallied around them for support and have created separate GoFundMe pages to cover their medical and funeral expenses.

Larry and Lucinda Jaramillo told local publication Everything Lubbock their son, Alex, was always helpful and his wife would “go above and beyond to cheer people up”.

“Alex’s smile, Crystal’s smile, Lucas’s smile. Everyone was always talking about their smiles,” Larry said.

“Their legacies… what could have been. 27, 25 and 2, I mean I still can’t fathom what’s going on. It’s just very difficult to swallow right now.”

Larry also thanks the first responders and the Snyder community for their outpouring of love and help after the tragic accident.

The crash remains under investigation.
