Teen ‘lures man via Snapchat’ before allegedly killing his brother
A teenage girl has been arrested after she allegedly lured a man using Snapchat before carjacking him and being involved in the shooting of his brother.
Anna Bella Dukes, 18, who is accused of eluding police for months, was arrested on Tuesday after she and Adrian Vila, 17, allegedly killed a man in Albuquerque, New Mexico in February last year.
Police claim Dukes used Snapchat to lure a man to meet her in the early hours of February 11 so she, Vila and two others could rob him.
It’s alleged Dukes and Vila pulled the man from his Lexus and demanded cash, jewellery and a gun from him.
Police said the group held the man at gunpoint and took two cars, including the Lexus, to the man’s home. Once there, it’s alleged they called his brother, who police named as Elias Otero, 24, and threatened to kill the man in the car if Mr Otero didn’t pay a US$1000 ransom.
Mr Otero came out of the house and allegedly threatened to shoot the pair, but police claim Avila shot and killed him in the street.
Police said the four suspects then fled the scene and Mr Otero’s brother managed to escape. Officers said they began searching for Avila and Dukes after identifying the other car as one from a previous carjacking.

In December, Avila handed himself in and was charged with a number of offences including murder and kidnapping.
That same month, police also charged Dukes with murder, kidnapping, armed robbery and a series of other offences. However, they were still searching for her.
Police arrested Dukes on Tuesday — almost one year after Mr Otero was shot dead.
Two other people wanted in connection with the incident are yet to be found.
