Radio host reveals man's unexpected method to keep track of 13 women he's dating
Australian TV presenter and radio host Sami Lukis revealed a friend went on a date with a man who kept a spreadsheet with information on the 13 women he was dating.
The bizarre revelation came as Lukis, 48, appeared on Channel Seven’s The Daily Edition to promote her new dating podcast, ‘Romantically Challenged’.
“A girlfriend of mine went on a date with a guy and he openly told her on date one, he keeps a spreadsheet to keep track of the 13 women that he is currently seeing,” she said.
“So he keeps their names, their ages, their kids’ names, their likes, their dislikes.”
The podcast host said she had been shocked by modern dating patterns that were unheard of in her early 20s.
“It’s called a poly-friendly dating culture, So it’s not uncommon for the guy you are seeing to be seeing three or four other women as well,” Lukis said.
“Back when I was in my early 20s, if I found out the guy I was seeing was going around with someone else, I would dump him immediately. But today, it’s just kind of what the kids are doing.”
The podcast is based on Lukis’ experience navigating the dating scene as a single woman in her 40s and was inspired by candid talks with her girlfriends in their 40s who were anxious about dating.
“People are staying single for longer as they reject that societal pressure to get married or have kids,” she said.
“So there’s a lot of people over 40, 50s and 60s that are single, and none of us have a clue what we’re doing.”
Lukis spoke of the dating trend ‘benching’, which forms part of a minefield of modern dating terms including “benching and breadcrumbing and ghosting and catfishing”.
“Benching is when a guy is messaging me but he’s not actually making plans to catch up with me,” she said.
“So he’s already seeing someone else and he’s keeping me on the bench until his number one goes and then I get called in off the bench.”
The podcast is based on Lukis’ 2018 book, ‘Romantically Challenged’, published by Penguin Books – which outlines her love life as a self-proclaimed “dating weirdo magnet”.
In spite of her discussion of dating woes, Lukis wants to encourage the singles out there to keep trying.

“Look, dating can be really confusing and frustrating and horrible at times, but at the end of the day, it is meant to lead to something beautiful and something special and wonderful,” she said.
“So we’ve all got to have a good laugh about it on the way.”
Going forward, Lukis says she remains “always hopeful” that she will find true love.
