Man 'steals date's car before using it to go on another date'

Having your heart stolen on a first date is a dream come true for many women.

Yet one Tennessee man enjoying a recent romantic engagement seems to have had other ideas – allegedly stealing his date’s car instead.

Faith Pugh, from Memphis, agreed to go on a date with Kelton Griffin, 21, someone she had known since high school.

Yet when he arrived at her home, Griffin was without transport. He then convinced her they would take her car on the date, police say.

She reluctantly agreed and the pair set off in her black Volvo before pulling up at a petrol station.

He then asked her to go inside and buy him a cigar. Once again she agreed but this time with devastating consequences.

According to police, Griffin then drove off with her car.

To make matters worse, Griffin had allegedly left Ms Pugh to go take another woman on a date – Ms Pugh’s friend.

The other date had messaged Ms Pugh, surprised Griffin had asked her on a date, before the women agreed to use her GPS tracker so they could track him down.

The pair were eventually found in a drive-in cinema where the Ms Pugh’s friend had driven them in the stolen car.

“She actually paid their way to get in the drive-in just so I could get my car back,” Ms Pugh revealed.

Police were called and arrived at the scene to arrest Griffin before he was charged with theft of property, Fox 13 reported.
