Woman abandoned by date after falling on Queensland mountain

WARNING – GRAPHIC CONTENT: A Queensland man seems unlikely to get a second date after he allegedly abandoned a woman who had fallen off the edge of a mountain, slicing open her hand.

The woman, named only as Sarah, was convinced to venture to the top of Mt Tibrogargan in the Glass House Mountains in what was supposed to be a romantic bushwalk on Friday morning.

But any chance to go past date number one went out the window when her male suitor did the unthinkable, moments after Sarah stumbled off the mountain peak and lacerated her hand in two places on a sharp piece of rock.

“She told us she was actually on a first date and that he was the one that had decided to take her up the mountain,” fellow hiker Brian Coulter told News Corp.

“But apparently he was running late for work so he left her there while we attended to her injuries.”

Mr Coulter, a Brisbane ecologist, happened to be tackling the same walk with three firefighters when Sarah fell.

Well equipped to handle the situation, he said his three fiery mates jumped into action and administered first aid.

They called emergency services who were able to safely abseil down with Sarah before transporting her to Caboolture Hospital.

Social media users were quick to slam Sarah’s date for offering a “pathetic excuse”.

“Who seriously just abandons their date when they slip off a cliff?” one man asked.
