Brisbane woman makes terrifying discovery while trying to take a nap on couch

There are many perks when it comes to working from home - including the chance to have a quick nap.

But one Brisbane homeowner was not expecting a visitor to be coiled up on the couch with her when she decided it was a good time to get some shut eye.

Licensed snake catcher Lana Field told Yahoo7 the woman, who lives at The Gap, had been working on her laptop on an outdoor lounge throughout the day, and tried to adjust the cushions mid-afternoon so she could have a short rest.

That's when she realised a carpet python had been keeping her company.

"She screamed." Ms Field said. "She wasn't quite so sleepy any more."

It is believed the shocked woman called out to her husband. He then called the snake catcher.

Ms Field said the woman, thought to be middle aged and from the United Kingdom, had been sitting in that spot working on her computer for most of the day.

Her dog had also been keeping her company and hadn't noticed the hidden house guest either.

"It was probably waiting for her to go so that it could move on again," Licensed snake catcher Lana Field told Yahoo7

The carpet python was relocated to bushland nearby.

The snake catcher said there are a lot of "gravid girls who are looking for places to lay there eggs" and reminded people who spot unwelcome visitors in their yard and might be concerned to call a professional.
