'He probably deserved it': Startling remark from brother of one punch attack school boy in NSW

The brother of a young student says he "probably deserved" to be knocked out by a punch filmed in his school playground in Wagga Wagga.

"He probably deserved it, to be honest," the brother told 7News outside his family home.

The 12-year-old's alleged attacker is due at the local police station on Wednesday evening to discuss his fate.

The two boys involved in the incident, believed to be filmed on Monday, both attend Wagga Wagga High School and the Education Department has confirmed to 7News the 14-year-old alleged attacker has since been suspended.

Police have since offered a stern warning to anyone performing any crime for internet "fame".

"I think we will all agree that is disgraceful behaviour, it's not acceptable and I think in my view that adds a circumstance of aggravation which is not to be approved of," Supt. Bob Noble said.

The Education Minister has also spoken out, revealing his shock at the incident.

"I was sickened and appalled by what by all accounts appears to have been a cowardly attack on a young student," Minister Rob Stokes said.

Thankfully, the year seven boy was not seriously hurt in the attack.
