'Horrible death': Outrage as echidna is found impaled on post

WARNING, GRAPHIC CONTENT: North Queensland residents have been left outraged after a picture emerged of an echidna impaled on a roadside post.

Kim Williamson, a Townsville resident, posted a picture on Facebook of the animal impaled on roadside post at North Shore Road near Bushland Beach on Saturday.

She wrote she wants to find the person or people responsible, and claims someone picked up the “poor, defenceless animal” and killed it.

“It has died a horrible death trying to get itself off,” Ms Williamson wrote.

“I took her down to a North Shore vet to be reported.”

She added she wants justice for the animal.

A Queensland Police spokesman said he had not received any reports regarding the incident.

Facebook users were left disgusted by the picture with many hoping whoever is responsible can be found.

“Too many brain-dead grubs around these days,” one user wrote.
