Five hacks to score McDonald's 'secret menu' items in Australia

Social media is flooded with viral videos of Americans taste testing so called"secret items" from McDonald's hidden menu – including a burger with eight beef patties to a thick shake that contains all the flavours.

McDonald's Australia confirmed to Yahoo News Australia that while there is no secret menu down under, with a little patience and some construction work, you can customise your items to create the viral menu yourself.

"Customers can customise their orders as they see fit," a McDonald's Australia spokesperson told Yahoo.

However the fast food chain reminds customers that while they can't stand in the way of your appetite, they will make sure you know what you are consuming, and customised orders are also likely to come with extra costs.

"We include kilojoule labelling for all products on our menu boards, website, digital kiosks and MyMacca’s app, to allow customers to make informed choices," the spokesperson added.

Here are tips on how to make five of the most viral secret McDonald's items in Australia.

The Monster Mac

The best way to avoid any judgment when ordering this enormous burger is to head to the digital kiosk to order the Monster Mac, that way you are in complete control of what goes on your burger and can add touches such as extra onions or cheese.

Start by ordering a standard Big Mac and then simply add six burger patties, bringing the total to eight.

The Monster Mac isn't going to fit inside of a regular Big Mac box, so grab some extra napkins and be prepared to get messy while chowing down on this US favourite that has been rated "a nine out of 10" by fast food connoisseur TikTok user @theglasssniper.

The Land, Sea and Air Burger

Have you ever been in line at Macca's and just couldn't decide if you were in the mood for chicken, beef or fish?

This burger promises to solve all those concerns in one huge bite.

The best part about the Land, Sea and Air Burger is you can customise it yourself to create the burger of your dreams as seen on YouTube channel PHILLIPS FamBam.

Simply order a Big Mac (the land), a Fillet-o-fish Burger (the sea) and a McChicken Burger (the air), then get to work combining all three, stacking each layer however you want, in whatever combination you like.

The Apple Pie McFlurry

This dessert is one of the more simple secret menu items but probably one of the tastiest.

The best way to create this treat is to order a fresh hot Apple Pie and a plain McFlurry, then using the sturdy McFlurry spoon you can crumble, swirl and mix in your Apple Pie into the soft serve.

For those on a budget, others online have suggested ordering a soft serve cone and Apple Pie, then simply dipping your pie into the soft serve with each bite.

The Neapolitan Thick Shake

For those times when one flavour just isn't enough, one genius decided to order all three in one cup, creating the Neapolitan thick shake.

You can either ask McDonald's staff if they would combine all three flavours for you or go the DIY method and make it yourself.

Ask for three small thick shakes in Chocolate, Vanilla and Strawberry and one empty large cup, mix all the flavours together and start sipping.

The McBrunch Burger

The McBrunch Burger is also known as the Mc10:35am for those who remember the golden arches cutting off the breakfast menu at about 10:30am a few years ago.

However we now live in a world where you can order hotcakes at 11pm or a Happy Meal at 9am, so different people refer to this burger in different ways but most will agree it's the perfect snack for in between breakfast and lunch.

To order a McBrunch Burger, head over to the digital kiosk and simply add an egg to a double cheeseburger.

If you fancy getting hands on, you can order an Egg McMuffin and a Double Cheeseburger and combine the two yourself to create the great hangover breakfast.
