'First person I saw': Accused murderer's chilling confession played in court
Chilling video of an accused murderer confessing to killing Korean student Eunji Ban has been played to a jury in Brisbane’s Supreme Court.
Alex McEwan told police he’d been waiting to kill someone his whole life.
He was arrested for the woman’s murder a day after she was found bashed to death in the heart of Brisbane.
Before he even got to the police station, he made a chilling admission to officers. The conversation, recorded inside the police cars, was played to the jury on Wednesday.
“On the night of the murder I just woke up randomly and did it,” McEwan told police.
“I was kind of waiting for it my whole life.”
“Waiting for what?,” the officer asked.
McEwan replied: “To kill someone.”

Then the officer began filming McEwan on his iPhone as he questioned him.
“What did you do?,” the officer asked.
“Bashed the s*** out of her face,” McEwan responded.
Asked why, he said, “F***ing demon.”
Asked why a girl, he said, “First person I saw.”
In the video Alex McEwan said Eunji Ban was screaming for help when he attacked her.
He was also recorded saying he felt sorry for the girl and her family.
His defence is arguing it wasn’t murder because of McEwan’s mental state.
