Father's stomach-churning find after son finishes restaurant meal
A Chinese diner found a cockroach at the bottom of his son's meal before the restaurant owner snatched the bowl away and dared him to call the police.
The incident was filmed at an unnamed restaurant in the city of Xuzhou, in the eastern Chinese province of Jiangsu, and the footage was widely shared on social network Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok, last week.
The man, who was not identified, took his young son to a restaurant for a meal and later spotted the cockroach at the bottom of the boy's bowl, according to news site Baidu.
He then confronted staff members with the bowl and the bug, and the restaurant owner reportedly snatched it away from him, warning him not to look for trouble and daring him to call the police if he believed there was a cockroach in his food.
After the incident, the man allegedly contacted the health department and the food standards agency to report the restaurant.

A negotiation between both parties resulted in the restaurant compensating the man for the meal for 165 Chinese yuan (AU$35.42), Baidu reported.
Authorities said on November 4 that neither party had come forward with evidence against the other and no further investigation would be carried out for the time being.
