Curious koala finds itself in a sticky situation

A curious koala has found itself in an uncomfortable position at a power substation in Adelaide.

SA Power Networks posted an image on Facebook showing the marsupial with its head wedged between two fence posts.

It is believed the koala had been trying to crawl under the fence at Happy Valley, south of Adelaide, on Tuesday morning, but sat up during its attempt and became stuck.

The creature’s misadventure has attracted plenty of attention online.

Oh, poor little critter!” one person commented.

“His face says it all,” said another.

A small number of rescuers went to the koala’s aid and fortunately were able to extract it from the fence.

“A big thank you to Fauna Rescue SA and our St Marys crew who successfully released the Koala and took him into care for a check-up before his release back into the wild,” SA Power Networks wrote on Facebook.

Despite the koala’s ordeal, some social media users were quick to make light of the situation.

“Don’t think he would be Koalafied to be on the premises,” one person wrote, while another said the animal was “not the brightest spark in that substation.”

Fortunately, there was a happy ending and the marsupial was fine after its ordeal.
