Coles announces biggest ever pre-Christmas promotion

With the end of lockdowns meaning the start of celebrations for many Aussies, Coles has come to the party with its biggest ever promotion in the lead-up to Christmas.

From Wednesday, October 20, until Tuesday October 26, Coles will be offering a 10 per cent discount on selected Mastercard gift cards.

This biggest-ever promotion helps Coles customers save on upcoming purchases — such as Halloween decorations or Christmas presents — meaning they can cut the price of anything that can be bought with a Mastercard.

For one week only, customers can score a $100 or $250 gift card at Coles and receive 10 per cent off the total transaction, including an applicable purchase fee.

This means that thrifty shoppers can score a $250 Coles Mastercard gift card, which carries a $7 purchase fee, for only $231.30 — that’s a saving of $18.70.

Customers can also buy a $100 Coles Mastercard gift card, which has a $5 purchase fee, for just $94.50, which is a saving of $5.50.

There is a limit of five Mastercard gift cards per customer, which means customers can save up to $93.50 by purchasing five $250 gift cards.

Coles shares easy money-saving hack

Coles General Manager of Non-food, Jonathan Torr, said the limited-time offer is only for one week to give customers a way to save in the lead-up to the holiday season.

“We know that shoppers are beginning to purchase gifts for their loved ones for Christmas, they are planning their holidays and wanting to entertain their friends and families,” Mr Torr said.

“As they start to spend more in the lead-up to Christmas, they are looking for extra ways to save and an easy hack is to pop into Coles and purchase one of these discounted Coles Mastercard Gift Cards first,” he added.

“The cards are accepted anywhere that accepts Mastercard so the possibilities on what and where customers can save with this special are endless. Customers need to get in early because it’s only while stocks last and there are no rain checks.”

Combined with 40 per cent off selected haircare, half price off selected Halloween supplies, party food and drinks, it’s one of Coles’ biggest value catalogues for the year.

Some of the highlights for this week’s catalogue at Coles include Peters Connoisseur Ice Cream, Chobani Fit Yogurt Tub varieties, Olay Regenerist Collagen Peptide 24 Cream and Cadbury Sharepack — all of which are currently half price.

‘Tis the season for sustainability at Coles this Christmas

‘Tis the season for sustainability at Coles, with the supermarket announcing more sustainable options in their 2021 Christmas range.

After another challenging year, Coles set out to help Aussies relax and “enjoy an extraordinary experience” with their range of over 150 new and improved Christmas products set to arrive in-store and online in coming weeks.

Coles, Australia's “greenest supermarket”, confirmed that this year’s Christmas range features more responsibly-sourced products right across the line of food, drinks, gifts and decorations.

Within its sustainable product range, Coles will have its first-ever line of 100 per cent plastic-free and recyclable festive crackers, as well as wooden wind-up children’s toys and ornaments to encourage more environmentally-friendly gifting.

The supermarket also said its Christmas hams are all sow stall — metal gestational stall — free and 100 per cent Australian with no added hormones, while its Hunter Valley turkeys are RSPCA approved.

Additionally, the Coles drinks range offers more locally-sourced and sustainable refreshments this year, including the Bio Project wines.

Bio Project wines are made in collaboration with Shingleback from McLaren Vale. They use plants that benefit the vineyard by specifically attracting beneficial insects and native birds, improving water quality, and restoring some of McLaren Vale’s biodiversity.
