'Bougiest' Woolworths store stuns shoppers in viral TikTok: 'So posh'

A Woolworths shopper has gone viral on TikTok after sharing a video of the supermarket’s most “bougie” Sydney store.

The TikTok user, @cass.xx.b, went viral on Saturday after giving fans a virtual tour of the fancy Woolworths in Double Bay, in Sydney’s Eastern suburbs.

“$5.50 for a coffee stings, but the pasta section made up for it,” reads the caption of the viral TikTok video.

“This has to be the bougiest Woolworths in Australia, oh my God,” says the stunned shopper, as she enters the store.

She then takes fellow shoppers on a tour of the lavish supermarket, which boasts a fresh bread section and self-serve containers of lollies, nuts, chocolate and even vegan and sugar-free treats.

“They even have this wild rice and risotto section,” explains the Woolies shopper, who walks TikTok users through an aisle filled with various rice flavours, including pumpkin, beetroot and mushroom.

“It was wild!” exclaims the customer.

“They have this loose pasta section so you can get your fresh pasta put it into a little takeaway container and cook it at home,” she adds.

In the video, shoppers can see fridges filled with varying types of loose fresh pasta that can be collected by with tongs.

Meanwhile, the supermarket boasts an impressive range of ready meal and to-go options, including healthy options for fitness and health fanatics.

“This chilled drinks section was a section of dreams,” says the TikToker, as she pans across the aisle filled with a kaleidoscope of soft drinks, sports drinks, juices, zero alcohol drinks and more.

Unsurprisingly, shoppers across Australia were just as impressed by the fancy Woolworths as the TikToker who posted the video.

A Double Bay local even pointed out that the fancy store also boasted a “fresh truffle and cheese room” for shoppers.

'Covid hotspot waiting to happen'

Despite customers flooding the comments to applaud the sustainable move from Woolies, there was one detail that didn’t sit right with dozens of shoppers: the loose food.

“Am I the only one who doesn’t like the new loose food trend? I don’t want food I can’t wash that someone else could’ve coughed or sneezed on,” wrote one shopper.

“I'm not even a germaphobe, but I feel like this is a Covid hotspot waiting to happen,” wrote a second.

Others suggested that the supermarket ditch the communal tongs and scoops and instead use hands-free dispensers to stop the spread of germs among shoppers.
