Aussie man, 34, killed just weeks before the birth of his first child

A young dad-to-be was killed when his buggy rolled in a remote part of the Northern Territory.

Matthew Hall, 34, was with a friend when their vehicle crashed near Nhulunbuy, about 100 kilometres south of Gove, just after 11pm on Thursday.

Authorities received an alert from the men’s personal location device and a CareFlight rushed to the area.

While the other man, 35, was airlifted to Gove District Hospital with serious injuries, Mr Hall died at the scene.

It’s since been revealed that his partner is 20 weeks' pregnant.

‘Watching over your beautiful baby boy’

Mr Hall and his partner, Sally Fischer, had only just marked the halfway point of their pregnancy when the 34-year-old’s life was cut short.

Ms Fischer’s sister Sarah says she won’t forget how much he loved and adored Sally.

“You never ceased to make her and everyone around you smile,” she wrote online.

“I am so grateful to you for all of the wonderful moments and adventures you were able to share with my beautiful sister, the love of your life.

“Although you had only just begun the biggest adventure of all, we know you you’ll always be there watching over Sal and your beautiful baby boy.

Overwhelming support

Friends have rallied around the young family with tributes pouring in for the man pegged as a “true Aussie bloke".

“Matt lived his life to the absolute fullest, a new adventure always on the horizon,” Zoe Shepherd wrote on Facebook.

“Everyone who knew him would agree that he was a great mate, one that would give the shirt off his back if he had to.

"A Territory legend in the hunting community, Matt is so loved and so sadly missed by so many people.

Another friend Renee Connolly has since set up a GoFundMe page “in loving memory of Matt Hall".

So far more than $30,000 has been raised, well surpassing the $20,000 target.

Ms Connolly says the money will go towards funeral costs and upcoming bills that the family will incur in the next coming days and weeks.

“Matt has left a hole in so many lives but mainly his partner, Sally, who is 20 weeks pregnant,” she said.

“Please help me give some financial support to Sally, their baby and Matt’s family by donating any amount you can.”
