Customers from around Australia have been unable to send and receive text messages from about 10.30am on Wednesday.
"Hi @Telstra. Is there an issue with text messages in Sydney? I've tried to send three and they've all failed," one person wrote.

Telstra responded to the complaints saying it is aware of the issue.
"We are aware of a current disruption affecting some customers trying to send iMessage's that we're looking to fix as soon as possible," the company wrote on Twitter.
It's unclear whether the issue is restricted geographically but it appears to be affecting most of the east coast and Perth.
The company said in a statement that "customers continue to have the option to send SMS messages" which involves pressing down on the message and selecting to send it as an SMS.
"We will provide an update as soon as possible."
