Duo photographed swimming in croc-infested river with beers

A Northern Territory duo appear to be the early frontrunner for the most Aussie moment of the year thanks to their daring swim after "a few too many beers".

Peter Wardill and Nano Burslem were out fishing on Saturday along the Adelaide River when they decided it was the perfect opportunity to get a photo with the iconic Original Jumping Crocodiles Cruise sign - while standing in croc-infested waters.

"When we got to the Adelaide River we seen the top of a car sticking out of the water and walked up to check it out," Mr Burslem told Yahoo7 News.

"On the way back I thought it would be funny to get a photo next to the sign and then thought even better let’s stir up the people down south so we made it look like we were in really deep water," he revealed.

And like true Aussies, the pair capped the photo off with an icy cold Great Northern in hand.

"It was the mid strength, not the cat's p*** original," Mr Burslem pointed out.

He also revealed despite sinking a few beers, the pair were in full control of the situation after numerous encounters with snakes and crocodiles over the years.

"Just to clarify we weren’t blind drunk," he noted.

"I was working the next day so couldn’t get as silly as I normally would have."

The pair can be found most weekends fishing in the local area after moving to NT five years ago. A week earlier their friend photographed them again with a beer in hand lying down on the river's boat ramp.

Despite his weekends mainly consisting of angling, Mr Burslem did reveal he is willing to make room in his schedule if he were to meet a certain someone.

"I'd like to let the ladies know I am single to anyone out there who is interested."
