TV reporter's heartbreak as wife dies three days after cancer diagnosis

A sports reporter has made a heartfelt post on social media after his wife died just three days following her cancer diagnosis.

SKY Sports presenter Simon Thomas, from the UK, revealed his wife died of leukaemia, telling his followers he was "crushed with indescribable pain".

The 44-year-old announced the death of his wife Gemma, 40, on Twitter and said she was "surrounded by her friends and family" in hospital.

"If you are a prayer - pray for my boy Ethan. 8yrs, precious and in bits," he wrote in the tweet.

Hundreds of tributes have flown in for the family.

The grieving father also took to Instagram to share the news of his wife's passing.

"Team Thomas. Three has become two. Heartbroken and suffocating with grief," he wrote.

Ex-England footballer Michael Ball said: “Heartbreaking. So sorry to hear this. My thoughts & prayers are with you and your family.”

Harlequins rugby player Danny Care said: “Thinking of you mate. So sorry.”

The couple lived in Caversham, Berkshire, together with their eight-year-old son Ethan.
