Tourist's frightful discovery of giant huntsman spiders at Yarra Valley vineyard
An unlucky tourist has made a frightful discovery of multiple giant huntsman spiders lined up along a wooden stake at a Victorian vineyard.
The tourist shared the image on social media, taken at the Yarra Valley, 90 kilometres east of Melbourne, of the arachnid discovery.
People commented at how scared they would be to come across such a nest and also added some trivia on the spiders.
The huntsman spiders are able to jump, climb and travel up to a metre a second.
Just last month a video of another huge huntsman spider did the rounds on social media for its large, ugly appearance on the back door of a Brisbane residence.
The horrified Queensland family say the spider was the size of a dinner plate and terrorised them after it became "angry" when they tried to use their barbecue.
Lauren Ansell from Mount Coolum returned home on Sunday to find the giant spider sitting on the sliding glass door to her patio.
When one of the family member's held the cat up to the spider in an attempt to scare it, it still didn't flinch and the cat, named Aurora when rigid with fear.
Ms Ansell said the creature, which she quickly named Aragog, was as large as a grown man's hand and very "unhappy," The Sunshine Coast Daily reported.
"(The spider) was preventing us from using our BBQ," she said.
"We made it unhappy as we tried to move it so we could cook".
Ms Ansell said her boyfriend tried to squash it in the door, but it instead fell off and scurried off into the garden.
