'Makes me feel sick': Father’s anger as Dreamworld sells souvenir photos during fatality

A Melbourne father who was on Dreamworld’s Thunder River Rapids ride an hour before four adults were killed, has slammed the theme park for selling souvenir photos as the tragedy unfolded.

Jesse Lovett said he now feels “ill” that park visitors weren’t notified about the fatality at the time.

He claimed instead they were left to queue for other rides and pay for merchandise while the incident unfolded.

He told News Corp: “All the Dreamworld music was on. I couldn’t even tell that anything was wrong. That’s what makes me feel a bit sick.”

“The thing that keeps making me feel sick was that there was like big lines there."

Paramedics tried for 30 minutes to revive the victims, before they were declared deceased.

"It feels weird that I got to go home and that family didn’t," Mr Lovett said.

Mr Lovett claimed he was not told anything by the staff and was able to stay posing for photographs, which were later sold to him for $50.

A spokesperson for Dreamworld told 7 News that they had shut down the ride immediately.

The statement read, "Our immediate concern now is to support the families of the victims and to provide appropriate counseling to our visitors and staff."

"We are working closely with authorities to understand exactly what occurred."

Dreamworld remains closed until further notice.
