Tony Abbott seems to really like onions.

The Prime Minster has chomped down his second raw and unpeeled vegetable in less than a week while meeting with the CEO of Onions Australia in Canberra on Thursday.

Last week, Mr Abbott shocked onlookers when he took an impromptu taste-test while touring a produce farm in Tasmania.

Today he was at it again.

Onions Australia CEO Lechelle Earl was at Parliament House to personally thank the Prime Minister for his support of the industry.

She said it was a sight to behold.

“He checked it out [and] remarked that it was similar to the one the other day," Ms Earl told News Corp Australia.

“He peeled a bit of the skin off this time but he took a few bites.

"[He] said it was tasty."

Ms Earl took the Prime Minister a quiche made with sweet potato, feta and of course onions, to say thank you.

She also presented him with a 5kg bag of produce.

“He loved the quiche,” Ms Earl said.

“He really supports the onion industry and more people should eat Australian onions.”
